The Els are Coming! History of the NYC Elevated Subways Online
Join Oscar Israelowitz for this virtual presentation where we will explore the fascinating history of the NYC Elevated Subway lines. We begin in Manhattan and early lines and explore some of the historic sites alone these routes including Castle Clinton National Historic Landmark in Battery Park, Singer Sewing Machine Tower, Hippodrome, the Chrysler Building, Croton Reservoir. We’ll venture into Brooklyn and take a look at the historic Greenwood Cemetery and Coney Island. In Queens, we’ll travel the Els that went into the 1939 New York World’s Fair in Flushing Meadow Park, Goldberg’s Dairy Farm. In the Bronx, we’ll visit Yankee Stadium and the Grand Concourse.
